Where does the money go?

Otra Cosa Network relies on the donations from our volunteers to fund almost all our activities. Placing you in an appropriate project,  finding you accommodation and looking after you while you’re here in Peru is a full time job for our Operations Manager and Assistant Manager in Peru, working behind a computer, using electricity, internet, printer, travel expenses etc. We also have two part-time people in the UK looking after promotion to recruit more volunteers and maintaining and updating our website and developing links with international partners.

Expenses and income vary from month to month and year to year, but to give you an idea of where the money goes, in line with our transparency policy, please find below an analysis of where the money went last year, based on our 2011 accounts.

For added clarity and transparency we've presented this two ways this year - a simple pie chart to show in % terms what the money was spent on for those who like a visual picture and a more traditional accounting format showing receipts & payments - as submitted to the UK Charity Commission.

Just asking every volunteer for their donation makes it possible to do what we do and to try to do it well.  Compare our prices and the variety of projects and the service we offer with what some other organizations charge and we think you'll agree that we're good value!
