Placing you in an appropriate project, finding you your preferred accommodation option and looking after you while you’re in Peru is a full-time job for our Operations Manager and Assistant Manager in Peru, working behind a computer all day, using electricity, the internet, a printer, and paying travel expenses etc. These are supported by our two part-time staff in the UK, recruiting new volunteers and keeping our web-site updated etc.
We therefore need to ask for a minimum donation from every volunteer, with the amount depending upon the length of your stay. Asking volunteers for this donation makes it possible to do what we do, and to have the time to do it well. Compare our prices and the variety of our projects and the service we offer with what some other organisations charge and we think you'll agree that we are good value for your money!
The minimum donation rates are shown below. This is a minimum suggested donation that helps to keep our projects and services viable, so any additional support you can offer on top of the minimum donation is greatly appreciated!
You can pay the donation in British Pounds directly to our UK bank account upon confirmation of your volunteer placement at a substantial discount (circa 15% depending on exchange rates) to the price of the local payment on arrival. Our bank account is with the HSBC bank in Leamington Spa, England (details below).

Unfortunately, we've had a few signed up volunteers who have chosen not to come at the last minute after we've done all our work arranging things and our projects have been expecting them. Therefore, we now require a minimum 20% deposit either through PayPal or our UK bank account, to secure a volunteer placement with OCN, just to ensure thay you're as serious about this commitment as we are. If you pay 100% up front then you qualify for the discounted rates shown below (circa 15%, depending on exchange rates, compared with the local payment on arrival prices)

Once you have received, signed and returned to Otra Cosa Network your Volunteer Contract, this payment secures your place on the agreed project (or by mutual agreement an alternative project). DO NOT PAY UNTIL you have heard from us confirming your placement and you have received your Volunteer Contract.
