Our Projects

We have an ever-growing network of projects in various locations in northern Peru, mostly in the seaside town of Huanchaco, where our office is located, and the surrounding areas and in Trujillo, Peru's third largest city. We also have projects located in the mountainous regions of Leymabamba, Chachapoyas, Sicchezpampa, Rodríguez de Mendoza and Yanasara.

You can browse through all of our projects here, as well as searching through the list by specifying a particular time commitment length, age requirement, Spanish level or volunteer requirements. HELP English Teachers: the Huanchaco Education and Learning Program (HELP) instigated by Otra Cosa Network has expanded rapidly over the last 6 months and HELP English can now offer free English language classes to adults and children in the Las Lomas, Ramón Castilla, El Trópico and Cerrito de la Virgen communities, and our outreach effort to benefit still more communities continues. We are constantly in need of volunteers to teach these classes, as there just aren't enough people within the communities themselves to run the classes unless OCN can provide the manpower. Previous teaching experience is of course ideal but not necessary in all cases. We are seeking lively, excited and initiative-full volunteers to provide locals with a life-long skill with endless benefits. For more information, please see the HELP English project description here.
