Carlos and Peluche's House on Manco Capac street in Huanchaco
Price: 350 soles per month (about $130) or 12 soles per night
Manco Capac is in the centre of Huanchaco, one block from the Medical Clinic and the central market, close to the beach, lots of restaurants and buses to Trujillo (takes 30 minutes).
The house is owned by Carlos and Peluche, a retired couple who live on their own with two bedrooms to rent to volunteers. Their son Kike and his wife Silvana own a local lavandería and wash the majority of our volunteers' clothes. Kike and Silvana are constantly available to support volunteers, and will help you to settle into the house when you arrive. Kike speaks very good English and can help with any communication problems if your Spanish isn't excellent.
There are two bedrooms available for volunteers, (both with double beds and a TV with cable). You will have access to all common areas, the kitchen, living room, laundry area and shared bathroom with hot water. There are no animals in the house.
You will receive keys to the main entrance to the house and to your bedroom. There is no curfew, you can come home whenever you like, but there are no guests allowed into the house. The family are very warm and welcoming and offer a great opportunity to practice your Spanish. Don't be surprised if you quickly become a beloved member of the family!
